What Is Mobile SEO ?

Mobile SEO should be a matter of increasing visibility of your website, not only in mobile search engines but on the actual mobile and often touch-enabled devices themselves.

Mobile SEO is a process to capture a mobile audience by optimization on-page / off-page content delivering factors as general SEO.

Why??

Eventually, most internet traffic will likely come from mobile devices such as tablet and smartphones.

Almost half the people within the US uses smartphones that enable them to  search on a web browser. This is why creating a different mobile website is important. A mobile website is designed for tablets and touchscreen smartphones . If your prospective target falls within the group that uses a mobile device to search for your business or service, then having a mobile site is necessary for you.

Keywords research for Mobile sites :

It is always recommended that you do keyword research when you create a new site. This is not different for your mobile site. You might find that people search using entirely different keywords to find your site while on mobile browsers. For that the keywords should be specific and exact for mobile sites.

Make Small Sites :

Mobile users have little tolerance for slow-loading webpages on their mobile devices, so make your site as simple to use as possible. With Google placing more emphasis on site speed (and overall usability) it makes sense from both a SEO point of view and user experience perspective to make your site small and easy to use.

Don't use Flash :

This tip could really be for SEO in general, but most smartphones don’t even render flash, and since search engines have a hard time crawling flash content, it’s very problematic from a SEO and user experience point of view.

Create Mobile sitemap :

Make it easy for mobile crawlers to discover new content on your mobile site for that create a mobile sitemap.

Claim Google Places :

Especially important for local businesses, but really for anyone. If you don’t claim your place page (on Google Places or Bing Business Portal) you are never going to have a map show up with the location of your business at the top of the universal results page on a smartphone.

PPC campaign for Mobile Sites :

1) Bid for top 2 positions. Being in the top 5 or 6 positions usually works on desktop and laptop search results screen, but not in mobile. Bid more aggressively and get those top 2 positions for maximum visibility.

2) Send users to mobile optimized landing pages.

3) Especially if you’re a local business, but even if you’re a national chain and have a 1-800 number, including location and/or click to call extensions help to give your ads more usability and visibility on mobile devices.

4) Easier navigation – remember that a mobile device user will be using fingers and thumbs, a lot less accurate than a mouse, and as such may require larger & clearer buttons to select them.

5) Make interaction easier – with someone buying or enquiring on a mobile device, if it’s possible, make it easier to complete a transaction by reducing and minimizing the number of steps required.
